Inner Child Work

What is the Inner Child?  The Inner Child inhabits in our subconscious and it is the part of us that, when in a healed state, it is fully aligned with our essence. It has been, since the moment we were born.

We are often told to embrace our Inner Child and go with the flow, but what if that child was and is deeply wounded and is hiding? or

​

What if that Inner Child has been subconsciously running our life with no clear direction or understanding? or,

​

What if we have more than one!?

​

As adults, we can tap into our Inner Child and bring it to the conscious, if they are in a healthy state. A healthy Inner Child allows us to experience joy, happiness, be playful and aligned with our purpose and reason for being. We can flow with whatever life brings, allowing the Inner Child to come out when situations invite for this to happen.

With a healthy Inner Child, the adult self is the one in charge, the one who makes the decisions, determines the way forward and acts according to the situation at hand. Living with a healthy Inner Child, there are no “reactions” to life events instead, we act with understanding, acceptance and compassion. A healthy inner child allows us to be patient and flow with life. 

​

However, most of us have navigated this life with a wounded Inner Child (or Inner Children) as a consequence of experiences and events where, as children or young adults, we could not or did not feel safe to express our feelings, these were too traumatic for us to understand and process, we did not feel wanted, seen or heard by our caretakers, teachers or friends between other; we were judged or bullied, etc. Thus we start deviating from our true essence, live with unregulated nervous systems (extreme fight/flight/freeze modes) develop false beliefs about our selves, unhealthy coping mechanisms, different personas or masks, to name just a few.

Inner Child work is a powerful tool for healing these emotional wounds, feel the unfelt emotions and feelings, recognising and letting go of unhealthy coping mechanisms and beliefs, release protective personalities/personas and live with a regulated Nervous System.

 

When using this technique, the first step is to identify your potential wounded Inner Child/Children by using compassionate enquiry. I will then gently guide you to use your imagination to get a clear image of your Inner child and create a loving connection with this part of your self. Once you have established a connection, this will be the tool to help you connect with your emotions and communicate directly with your subconscious mind.

 

We will then go through a process that combines talking to your Inner Child, using affirmations and will create a more realistic narrative to release whatever it is that has kept you stuck in the past and repeating the same unhealthy patterns as an adult. The minute that inner child feels safe, held, loved and listened to, she will be able to integrate with the adult, and allow you to operate as such.

​

One of the reasons this process works, is because you were a child physically in your past, and his/her/their image helps you to activate emotional memories of yourself as a child, and those otherwise subconscious processes.

 

This is a technique that will be practised in a safe and confidential space that I will create specially for you, where you be able to relax and allow yourself to be vulnerable. It can also be done online, as you may feel more at ease doing this from the comfort of your home. Either way, you will not be alone, as I will be there guiding you and energetically holding you every step of the way.
